Anderson Island Christian Fellowship (AICF) is seeking a full-time pastor. We are a multidenominational evangelical church located on a medium size island near Tacoma, Washington. Access to our beautiful island is via a 20-minute ferry ride available nearly once each hour. We have about 100 people in our church on Sunday mornings. We are financially sound; we own our lovely new debt-free building and are able to support a full-time pastor position.
We are a close-knit body of believers who love the Lord Jesus Christ and love each other. We enjoy worshiping and serving together. While we seek to be a multi-generational church, many of our members are retired people. We are, however, a diverse church on an island that is growing in population through increasing numbers of younger families. Our people come from a spectrum of church backgrounds, and, while standing true to the Word of God, we are not formally aligned with any denomination.
We respect different points of view and ways of expressing our faith. We support a culture and tone that keeps the congregation focused on common Biblical standards. Our pastor and elders rely upon the Bible when dealing with faith differences that may need to be reconciled.
AICF is seeking the Lord’s leading for a pastor who will give the Bible its rightful place in the life of the congregation. He must have an extensive knowledge and love of the Bible and be able to teach in context and with sound doctrine. He must meet the qualifications set forth in Titus 1:5-9. Our pastor should also be relational with strong people skills. Our desire is for a pastor who loves the Lord Jesus Christ and who will love us through Him.
Anderson Island has a full-time population of about 1,500 people. Our island is not a ‘tourist’ destination but rather a family friendly vacation area. Our population increases on weekends and during the summer to about 3,500 people. The ferry gives us a small community feel, while still allowing easy access to the opportunities of the nearby cities of Tacoma and Olympia. We like to describe our unique life style as “island life”, which is slower paced, with less traffic and crime than the mainland. Islanders are known for having both independent spirits and close relationships. We are an eclectic group. There are numerous active community organizations on the island and many island-wide social events.
Anderson Island is the southernmost island in Puget Sound. It is 5 miles long. It boasts two lovely fresh water lakes, a general store, a café/coffee shop, a restaurant, a K-5 school, a 9-hole golf course, and numerous parks and hiking trails. Our ferry can hold around 60 cars and originates in Steilacoom, Washington. The ferry runs approximately 14 times per day.
As the Lord leads, please contact us for more information. We are greatly looking forward to meeting our new pastor and his family as we continue our life together in ministry to our island community.
