Job Title: Student Ministries Summer Intern
Reports to: Youth and Young Adults Pastor
Position Status: Summer (May 11-August 28) Full-Time, Regular (30 hours/week)
Hourly Rate: $19/hr
Purpose: The Intern will work closely with the Youth and Young Adults Pastor, crafting and executing a summer schedule of events, and acquiring meaningful experience in running youth & children’s programs.

· A committed born-again Christian whose life and integrity reflects that commitment, who regularly attends an evangelical Christian church; attendance at Bethany Baptist Church during the internship.
· Preference may be given to students intending to pursue a career in ministry or a related field.
· Enthusiastic, able to connect well with adolescents of all ages and personalities.
· A great attitude towards learning and approaching new challenges.
· Passionate to help youth encounter God in a life changing way.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Attention to detail, self-starter, and completes assignments on time.
· A commitment to good interpersonal relationships, teamwork and support of church ministries, and a pleasant personality.
· A commitment to confidentiality regarding all records of the church, staff, and members.
· A commitment to serving students in a Christ-like manner, settling an example, mentoring others, aiding in spiritual formation, etc.
· Timely attendance with ability to vary schedule when needed. May require occasional flexibility in work schedule to accommodate special events.
· Flexible personality able to respond well to varied and unpredictable tasks from week to week. Able to multi-task.
· Preference may be given to those with reliable access to a vehicle.

The primary job responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
· Mentoring and building relationships with youth.
· Planning and implementing weekly events with the Youth Pastor for Youth and/or iConnect
· Assisting the Children’s Ministry Team in Preparation for Vacation Bible School and Family Carnival
· Youth ministry education/reading weekly
· Meeting with the Youth Pastor weekly
· Regularly attending Bethany Baptist Church and participating in church fellowship events (official church membership not required)
· Participation in 604 network city planning meetings.
· Special projects including but not limited to:
o Working with the Youth Pastor to plan for the upcoming school year, including scheduling, event planning, and lesson planning
o VBS/Crossover week – preparing and leading daily afternoon events with the Youth Pastor
o Organizing weekly summer events/outings during July and early August
o Social media posting and engagement
o Hands-on work such as youth room repairs, painting, cleaning, etc. during July and August
o Other duties as needed
