General Purpose: To build young disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to Youth Ministry in the areas of Worship, Discipleship, Community, Outreach and Prayer. This pastor will also coordinate with and supervise the Children’s Ministry Director.

o Provide youth with nurturing and opportunities for growth
o Challenge youth to respond to God’s call to serve in their church, communities and world
Specific Youth Ministry Responsibilities and Roles:
o Create sustainable ministries for discipling students in junior high and high school by developing and executing annual goals, objectives, plans, and strategies.
o Plan and oversee all youth activities and programs with a primary focus on Wednesday night youth services.
o Plan and oversee all youth retreats, mission trips, and other special events.
o Screen, select and train all student ministry volunteers.
o Provide leadership, team building and training for all student ministry volunteers.
o Mentor youth in identifying and developing their leadership skills.
o Be available to youth in a variety of ways: lunch at school, attendance at extracurricular activities, having coffee together, visitation, guidance in times of crisis, etc.
o Communicate with volunteer staff, parents and students in a timely manner and as effectively as possible using all available resources (email, website, app, bulletin, social media, etc.)
o Maintain records of youth participation.
o Manage the youth ministry budget.
o Actively identify resources for developing the youth ministry program and participate in continuing education events and training opportunities.
o Be a liaison between the church and other community organizations, people, and resources that relate to youth and youth ministries.
o Ensure that safe environment practices are observed in all youth ministry settings.
Additional Responsibilities and Roles:
o Supervise Children’s Ministry Director (CMD).
o Coordinate with CMD for consistent discipleship across children and youth ministries.
o Coordinate and/or teach Sunday School to youth.
o Plan events and programs to encourage connection and ministry among young adults.
o Oversee ministry initiatives with young adults
o Provide pastoral support and encouragement to parents as needed.
o Work in concert with the gifts and talents of other staff members, and maintain a teamwork mentality; attend staff meetings.
o Collaborate with the other pastoral staff for fellowship events in the life of the church o Preach in accordance with gifting, call, and need.
o Perform other duties as directed by the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications and Aptitudes:
o Love kids and have a strong call to youth ministry
o Must have an authentic and growing love for Jesus Christ and for others
o Possess a proven ability to work effectively with youth, diverse individuals, and have experience in equipping, organizing and communicating with volunteers
o Preferred gifts for this position are leadership, teaching, and shepherding

o Directly supervise the Children’s Ministry Director
o Provide leadership and supervision to all Youth volunteers o Report directly to the Senior Pastor
Education and Credentials:
o Master’s Degree from an accredited seminary required (MDiv or MA Christian Formation preferred) o Alignment with Evangelical Covenant distinctives and positions
o Have or be willing to seek credentials in the Evangelical Covenant Church
o Three to five years demonstrated experience as a pastor to youth
o Experience with children and families a plus
Full Time: 40-50 hours/ week with flexibility to meet demands of role
