Students’ Ministry Pastor/Minister Full Time

About: Contra Costa Gospel Church (CCGC) is a bilingual Mandarin/English church in the hub of Contra Costa County in the San Francisco Bay Area. CCGC has served this area for over 40 years. Given the centralized location of Walnut Creek, CCGC primarily draws from the local Walnut Creek/Pleasant Hill/Concord area, the Lamorinda area (Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda), and the Tri-Valley Area (Danville, San Ramon, Pleasanton). We have a Sunday attendance of approximately 500 (250 in the Mandarin worship service, 150 in the English worship service, and 100 children). Of this, there are typically 40-50 middle school and high school students.

We are an independent, biblically conservative Evangelical congregation that seeks to serve the whole family – from nursery and children, to youth, to young adults and young families, to empty nesters and seniors. We strive to live and preach the good news of King Jesus through our messages, songs, fellowship interactions with each other, and encounters with the unbelieving world. We are not a political entity, and as such we remain steadfastly apolitical. We do not use the pulpit to espouse political or social agendas, as we are committed to preaching the Good News of Jesus. We are looking for someone with a heart for young people (mainly focusing on middle schoolers and high schoolers, but also college students as opportunities arise) who would like to partner with us to pursue this purpose.

Job Description:

• Oversee all middle school and high school responsibilities (Saturday evening youth group, Sunday school classes, youth retreat programming, summer missions, special events, etc.)
• Develop and implement an integrated overall program for youth ministry
• Oversee the integration of the youth ministry into the larger church community
• Lead and teach regularly for Oasis Youth Fellowship (Saturday middle school/high school youth group) and Youth Sunday school
• Recruit, train, equip, and coordinate volunteers to help with the Youth programs
• Shepherd, care, visit, and outreach to students
• Maintain open communication with the parents of the students
• Provide college student programming (as needed)
• Preach in Sunday English worship service
• This individual will work with other pastors and ministers at CCGC under the main guidance of the English Ministry Pastor

Qualifications:

• Earned either an M.A. or M.Div. from an accredited seminary
  • Those still in the process of completing a seminary degree may also be considered
• Believes and supports the vision and philosophy of CCGC as a bilingual church
• Holds to the primacy of the Word of God in the life of the believer
• Demonstrates gifts of leadership and teaching
• Exhibits a passion and love for students and families
• Demonstrates personal discipline and integrity
• Values and upholds the dynamics of being a team player and is able to work well with others
• Actively practices sound administrative skills and can manage multiple priorities
• Experience in a Chinese bilingual church is highly preferred, but not required
• Ability to speak Mandarin is a plus, but not required
