Goal for this position: To cultivate, lead, and organize a ministry to children and families that makes Eucharist Church a deeply desirable church community in San Francisco for families who want their children to know and love Christ above all else.

Prerequisites: We are looking for candidates who are:
A Spiritual/Theological Fit – we’re looking for a baptized Christian with vibrant personal faith, orthodox theology / theological competency (academic degrees are not necessary, but must be capable of teaching / leading children, youth, and adult volunteers), liturgical and sacramental awareness (experience in an Anglican setting is optimal)
Competent – we’re looking for someone with experience with children in a church / ministry / educational setting. Candidate should have an understanding of child / adolescent development, capacity for strong rapport with parents, and the ability to adapt and utilize children’s ministry curriculum
-Education – BA degree or higher preferred
Team Players – we’re looking for someone who is fun to work with, flexible, humble and likes to work collaboratively in a dynamic church plant setting. Primary Responsibilities (Children’s Ministry Director)
The Children’s Ministry Director’s main responsibility is to lead the children’s ministry at Eucharist Church. This includes, but is not limited to:
-Work with the rector and staff to develop a holistic vision and philosophy for spiritually forming children and families into disciples who live all of life in reference to Christ.
-This vision should address the parent’s role, the home life, Sunday catechesis, Sunday worship, family worship, outreach to children / families, resourcing for children / families, special events and retreats
-On a weekly basis, the Children’s Ministry Director will work with the rector and staff to develop and maintain a children’s ministry program to address both Sunday catechesis (9:00-9:45am) and Sunday morning worship kid’s program (30-40 minute for children 0-10 years old during the preaching portion of the worship service.) Additionally, as we grow into a 2nd service, the Children’s Ministry Director will help us design an appropriate children’s program for this service as well.
-Coordinate and lead the children’s ministry at other services or events as planned (i.e. retreats, Holy Week events, etc.)
-Make sure children are safe and protected – carrying out our child safety plan in accordance with the guidelines set out by our diocese and vestry. This includes background checks, interviews, and trainings of all children’s ministry volunteers.
-Recruit, coordinate, and train volunteers and to build effective teams
-Handle communications (emails, calls, etc.) with children’s ministry volunteers, parents, and staff.
-Participate in the staff and leadership meetings
-Purchasing and management of children’s supplies
-Hiring and training of childcare workers, as needed
-Coordinate childcare for non-teaching times on Sunday morning (during music practice before 9am Catechesis) and for other Eucharist events (Trainings, Feasts and Parties, Front Porch Events, Retreats, etc.) as directed by the rector.
Secondary Responsibilities (Church Administration Assistance)
