Position Summary: First Baptist Church is seeking an entrepreneurial, creative, and organizational leader who will lead the congregation to be more active and present with our neighbours; connect people of all ages to a deeper sense of belonging, involvement, and spiritual growth by meeting people where they are and leading them to take their next steps in the faith; and assist the Lead Pastor, pastoral team and Leadership Board in advancing our vision and mission. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative in connecting with needs in the community; model personal friendliness and hospitality; and be adept at building a small group culture that recruits, trains, supports, encourages, and deploys volunteers.
The role of the Connections Pastor (CP) is to oversee the connection and spiritual growth strategy of First Baptist Church under the direction and leadership of the lead Pastor and leadership board. This will require a firm grasp of the beliefs, values and strategy of FBC and the ability to align staff and key leadership teams with its mission, vision and values. The CP will lead guests to a genuine sense of belonging, involvement and spiritual growth at FBC by meeting people where they are and leading them to next steps. The CP will facilitate relational connection and spiritual growth of adults through weekend guest services, groups, volunteer teams, and assimilation of new members.
Experience At least three years of pastoral experience; demonstrated excellence in leadership development; and ability develop systems to bring about something new. Qualifications Mature faith, team leadership capacity, hospitable, creative, comfortable using technology, and the capacity to develop volunteers are the qualifying factors for the position; additionally, the ideal candidate will have at least a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Christian college or university with a clear sense of call to pastoral ministry.
Hours: This position is full-time.
Compensation: Salary and benefits for this position will be in line with the FBC salary grid, as aligned with the CBWC guidelines. The remoteness of living in a northern community is taken into consideration and compensation is adjusted to reflect it.

ABOUT US Currently FBC has a paid leadership team consisting of Lead Pastor, Associate Pastor, two Children’s ministry directors and an administration team (Administration assistant, property manager, janitors). FBC is currently is growing with an average attendance of 350 – 400 on any given Sunday. Our demographic primarily consists of young families with over 150 children and youth. Peace River is a northern community of approx. 7000 people. Located 5 hours north west of Edmonton, and two hours north east of Grande Prairie.
