The ongoing desire of FLCC is that we be “…a family of believers that worship God and lovingly cares for one another and a church that equips people for ministry and community impact.” Our hope with this summer position is to be able to provide a mutually beneficial opportunity, where the church’s ministry can be strengthened by the contributions of our summer worker, and that the person in this position will experience growth and encouragement and receive relevant career or ministry experience for the future. We are looking for someone with a heart for ministry and with passion/gifting to serve FLCC and the surrounding community. Because this position is provided in partnership with the Canada Summer Jobs grant, start date, number of hours, and number of weeks of work are tentative and dependent on the grant received.
Candidate Profile & Requirements: Someone between the ages of 15 and 30, who has a desire to receive work experience and to develop a solid skill base in a diverse range of ministry and community contexts. This person must have an alive Christian faith and testimony, adhere to the Evangelical Free Church Statement of Faith. Additionally, applicants must fit the requirements of funding for a Canada Summer Jobs Grant which include: (1) being a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and (2) have a valid Social Insurance number and being otherwise legally entitled to work in Canada and in accordance with BC regulations.

Job Description: The Children & Families Ministry Summer Intern will assist in the development, planning & execution of children’s Sun. morning programs, community engagement events (namely, a community week-long Camp), & volunteer equipping activities during the summer. This is an exciting, hands-on opportunity to work with kids in a ministry context, helping to create a safe, fun, educational & uplifting enviro. for kids. The summer assistant will collaborate with the Children & Families Ministry Director to ensure all activities align with the culture & values of FLCC.
Duties will include & not be limited to:
· Aid in preparation, lesson planning & teaching on Sunday morning.
· The Summer Assistant would also have the responsibility (alongside the Youth & Young Adults Director) to plan a Leaders In Training Program to be offered alongside the regular Community Summer Camp. The LIT would be for kids going into Gr. 6 & to Gr. 7 in the fall of 2025.
· The SA would organize volunteers & Children’s programs on Sun. morning for newborns to Gr. 6 kids. This requires planning curriculum, effectively communicating with volunteers & parents, preparing classrooms & overseeing the morning when the kids are present.
· Includes research in safe activities, that are based on our learning goals, with relationships, socially & individually.
· Creating, expanding & maintaining registrations
· Purchasing & acquiring necessary tools & equipment
· Use of social media & digital formats for registration & family connections
· Help organize volunteers & necessary support.
· Assisting in the designing, decorating and creating of the designated teaching area. Assisting in the designing and creation of interchangeable themed sets. Will include stage & set design. Applicant will be asked to help plan, purchase & build these using materials such as wood, fabric and paint and various decorations.
· Help initiate and facilitate several summer drop-in events for our Fort Kids. Help future programing and organization of Awana, a weekly kid’s ministry that runs from September to April.
