OUR CHURCH PROFILE
GCBC is a Baptist church affiliated with Canadian Baptists of Western Canada (CBWC). It is located in the South Vancouver/Killarney neighbourhood and serves a pre-dominantly Asian community. Our church is a multilingual and multicultural community and we have 2 congregations: Chinese and English. The English congregation currently consists of 30-40 persons, including youth/children. GCBC exists to glorify God through preaching the Gospel, serving the needy, and defending the powerless, through the power of the Holy Spirit and in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Associate Pastor will provide oversight and hands-on leadership to youth, young adults (including singles and married couples) and families in the English Ministry of Grace Community Baptist Church (GCBC). This position reports to the Church Council and is supervised by the Administration Pastor.
The successful candidate will:
-Agree with GCBC’s statement of faith
-Have completed a theological education and/or degree from a recognized/accepted theological institution/school
-Have at least 3 years’ experience in pastoral care and/or church planting experience (preferably both)
-Be proficient in the English language
-Have demonstrated ability to work and relate well with families, children and youth
-Have experience and ability to preach
-Be proficient with computer usage and software (i.e. word processing, emails…etc.)
-Have good organizational and time management skills
-Be able to share in managing the church’s daily administrative tasks
-Be able to work independently, as well as work as a team with other Pastors
-Hold a current, valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s license
-Be familiar with the South Vancouver/Killarney neighbourhood (preferred)
The ability to communicate in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is an asset.
Expected salary: Amount offered will be guided by CBWC’s salary recommendations.
Position Type: Initial 3-year’s contract. Extension or renewal of contract will be subject to review.
