Grace Community Church Pastor Job Description
The Role of our Pastor:
The pastor of Grace Community Church serves as the spiritual leader and shepherd of the congregation, guiding the church community in their faith journey. This role includes preaching and teaching the Bible, providing pastoral care, leading in prayer and worship, and equipping members for ministry and service. The pastor also plays a key role in fostering spiritual growth, building a sense of community rooted in the grace and love of God, and supporting the church’s mission to share the gospel locally and globally.
Leadership Profile:
· The Pastor will be a devoted and loving follower of Jesus Christ, wholly submitted to him as Lord of his life, modelling a life of prayer, careful study of the Bible, and helping others to grow as disciples of Jesus.
· The Pastor will have a master’s degree in theology or divinity (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
· The Pastor will be able to communicate vision, work well with fellow church leaders and apply the Word of God to all areas of life and the church’s ministry.
· The Pastor will be careful to maintain a healthy balance between personal, family and work commitments.
· The Pastor will be comfortable with the leadership and ministry of others that is according to gifts and calling without reference to gender.
· The Pastor will be accredited as a pastor with the Evangelical Free Church of Canada and will subscribe whole-heartedly to the Purpose and Vision statements of Grace Community Church; the Statement of Faith, Character and Calling, and Code of Conduct of the Evangelical Free Church of Canada.
Areas of Responsibility:
· The Pastor will have a balanced Bible-based preaching/teaching ministry.
· The Pastor will provide visionary leadership and leadership development.
· The Pastor will provide pastoral care and regular visitation.
· The Pastor will disciple and equip others to fulfill their God-given ministries in the church and in the world.
· The Pastor will fulfill administrative responsibilities as agreed upon with the Leadership Team.
· The Pastor will continue self-development to remain current and effective in ministry.
Remuneration:
Salary and benefits will be based upon the Recommended Salary and Group Benefit guidelines of the Evangelical Church of Canada. (Available upon request.)
Organizational Relationships:
· The Pastor will be an ex officio member of the various church boards and committees, supporting and encouraging church leaders while providing spiritual counsel and insights.
· The Pastor will collaborate with the elders to discern and address the spiritual needs of the congregation.
· The Pastor is accountable to the Leadership Team.
· The Pastor will maintain a supportive relationship with the Evangelical Free Church of Canada.
· The Pastor will maintain a constructive relationship with other local pastors and church leaders, including the Whitehorse Evangelical Ministerial and the Whitehorse Hospital Chaplaincy.
