The rural village of Harrowsmith is located just minutes away from Kingston, Ontario (16km north of Hwy 401, close to County Road 38). The businesses in the village include a pizzeria, restaurant, gas station, pharmacy, butcher shop/deli, auto repair ,and some other small businesses. The same is true of Verona (8 km north). A 5 min. drive to the east takes you to the village of Sydenham, which has a number of additional businesses such as a bank, grocery store, restaurants, hair salon, gas station, hardware store, medical center, flower shop, library ,and sports field. Sydenham is also the location of the local High school. Harrowsmith, Sydenham, and Verona all have a Public School and Harrowsmith also has a Catholic Elementary school. Most residents in the area work primarily in Kingston, which has all the usual amenities of a mid-size city. Kingston has a large number of public sector employment opportunities, as well as a good base of commercial and industrial work.
