Communications Manager and Program Liaison Full Time

Communications Manager and Program Liaison  Reporting directly to the CEO, the Communications Manager and Program Liaison is responsible for developing and executing a communications strategy for Himalayan Life, along with providing support for both international and Canada-based programs. This is a permanent full-time position.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Communications:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy for the organization including emails, social media, blogs, and mailouts.
• Maintain, update and create content for the Himalayan Life website.
• Work alongside the Director of Development to coordinate communications plans for various fundraising events and campaigns.
• Assist with donor communications including Thank You letters and appeals.
• Manage internal communications structures for the organization including Google Suite and Workplace.

  Program Support:

• Assist with planning and executing regular staff development workshops and conferences.
• Liaison between international programs and visiting school and church groups including orientation and debriefing.
• Work alongside the CEO and Director of Development to assist with vision trips to Nepal. The role will require one to two trips a year to Nepal.
• Collect and summarize Quarterly Reports from projects in Nepal.

  Organizational Duties:

• Support the CEO and Director of Development with Human Resources tasks.
• Ensure project compliance with CRA requirements in collaboration with the Administrator.
• Support the team in the organization, coordination and promotion of different events.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

• University graduate in communications, marketing or related field.
• Relevant work experience in communications, social media management.
• Experience working for a charity or in the international development field is an asset.

  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Key knowledge of social media and communications best practices, techniques and processes.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Detailed-oriented and very strong organizational skills.
• Project management skills, including handling multiple, concurrent and diverse projects.
• Ability to work both independently without close oversight, and also as a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside Himalayan Life.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, YouTube, Mailchimp, and G Suite (such as Google Drive and Google Docs)
• Experience with WordPress and graphic design programs (such as Photoshop, Illustrator or Canva) is an asset.
• High energy and passion for Himalayan Life’s mission are essential.
