JOB SUMMARY
Cedars is seeking a part-time Bus Driver to support resident transportation at Hopehill. Reporting to the Assisted Living Manager, the Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting residents to programs and community outings while working collaboratively with Hopehill staff. In addition to regularly scheduled hours, the Bus Driver may be offered additional casual shifts to support special events and community outings. The role supports residents’ independence and community participation through consistent attention to safety, procedures, and respectful, professional service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Safely transport residents to and from scheduled programs, outings, and appointments in accordance with organizational policies and assisted living guidelines.
Operate lift‑equipped and wheelchair‑accessible vehicles, assisting residents with boarding, seating, securement, and disembarking as required.
Ensure all passengers and mobility equipment are properly secured before and during vehicle operation.
Provide calm, respectful assistance to residents during transportation, responding appropriately to routine issues or unexpected situations.
Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle safety inspections and report any concerns promptly.
Complete required documentation, including logbooks, trip records, and incident reports, accurately and in a timely manner.
Work cooperatively with Hopehill staff to support smooth scheduling and safe transfers of care.
Maintain a respectful, resident‑centred approach at all times, demonstrating patience, professionalism, and appropriate boundaries.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid BC Class 4 Driver’s Licence (unrestricted).
Clean Driver’s Abstract, with a demonstrated record of safe and responsible driving over the past five (5) years.
Ability to successfully obtain and maintain a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
Physically able to safely assist residents and operate wheelchair lifts and securement systems.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully
Reliable, organized, and able to follow established systems, procedures, and schedules.
Comfortable responding to changing conditions while maintaining safety and professionalism.
Ability to speak Mandarin and/or Cantonese is considered an asset.
