This full-time position provides an exciting opportunity for an individual interested in supporting Journey Home Community’s mission by coordinating volunteers and events.
This individual will take initiative to build excitement and inspire others to support Journey Home Community. Responsibility will be to create meaningful and vibrant events supported by a healthy volunteer base. They will be effective at recruiting, providing effective training, organizing systems, building teams, and providing emotional and practical support and supervision. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a strong emotional intelligence, be relationally oriented, and have effective communication skills, all while being able to remain detailed, organized, and focused on task completion.
The Volunteer and Event Coordinator oversees Journey Home Community’s volunteer program as well as planning and coordinating all aspects of key events. The time spent in this role will be split approximately 50%-50% between coordinating volunteers and events.
Volunteer coordination tasks will support JHC’s settlement and administrative staff by recruiting, training, and placing volunteers in roles that promote the organization’s mission and vision. Further, the Volunteer Coordinator has the primary responsibility to ensure that all volunteers are properly supervised and supported in their assigned roles.
Event coordination tasks include planning and overseeing major organizational fundraising events such as our annual Ride for Refuge and The Welcome Table. Additionally, event coordination includes planning and overseeing social gatherings such as our annual Christmas celebration, Thanksgiving Dinner, and Summer Picnic which are designed to build bridges between our support community (volunteers, donors, contacts) and our refugee community.
