Summary
Position Title: Youth Pastor
Hours: 40 hours per week (Fulltime position)
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Works as: A member of the Pastoral Team.
Salary: Based on education and experience
The Youth Pastor provides leadership and oversight of the youth ministry (SoulTrek Youth Group) at Valley Church. The person in this role is responsible for implementing a weekly program, developing a team of volunteer leaders, planning events, and mentoring students. These initiatives all serve to support our teenagers’ spiritual and emotional development as they live out their faith and become disciples of Christ.
Responsibilities
Provide a consistent weekly youth group program that includes engaging games, worship and preaching.
Recruit and equip a team of volunteer leaders to run the various elements of the youth group.
Plan large events as an opportunity for our students to develop stronger friendships and as an outreach to our community.
Develop a mentorship program for leaders and students.
Manage a budget, database and follow church policies.
Plan and execute a yearly youth missions trip.
Attend weekly staff meetings. + Monthly Planning Meetings
Work in collaboration with the leadership team on church vision and strategy.
Participate in the planning and execution of church-wide events in coordination with the leadership team.
Participate and assist in our Children’s Day Camp for one week each summer.
Help during the Sunday morning service – an example would be … Tech/worship/Sunday school
Potential Responsibilities: If a youth pastor candidate has the capacity for the following responsibilities, we would consider that to be an asset; however, these roles are not necessary for being hired.
Oversee our Young Adults Ministry by coordinating and empowering our volunteer team of young adult leaders.
Assist our church in creating digital media content and managing our social media pages (Facebook, lnstagram, YouTube, etc.).
Qualifications
An authentic and deepening relationship with Jesus.
Previous experience volunteering in a youth group or working as a youth pastor.
Post-Secondary theological education.
Good communication skills; verbal and written.
Ability to relate well to others and to be a team player.
Strong coaching/mentoring skills are an asset.
Displays leadership qualities like faith, vision, maturity, wisdom and love.
Aptitude for computers and social media.
