Church Administrator – July 26, 2019
Marineview Chapel is a multi-generational, multi-ethnic evangelical community church looking for a part-time church administrator to begin working at the end of July. This is a, part-time, contract role, which may be renewed upon review. We expect the work to average about 10 hours a week beyond your participation in regular church life, although the amount of work to be done may fluctuate with the seasons of church ministry. Compensation is on a monthly basis and will be paid at $800 per month.
The Goal: The goal of this position is to support the leaders, congregation, and staff of Marineview by taking initiative in maintaining some of the administrative side of weekly operations at the church.
The Role: The Church Administrator position primarily involves serving the congregation in an administrative role (correspondence, and office filing) along with ongoing partnership with the Leadership Team in the area of facility oversight (managing bookings, equipment, supplies).
Hours of Work: The execution of this role is flexible. We estimate this position will require an average of 10 hours per week, but it may vary week-to-week and season-to-season. Much of this work can be done from home at the Administrator’s convenience. Preference will be given to applicants who are able to be attend Sunday morning gatherings regularly. Ability to work 4 hours a week onsite during working hours would be considered an asset.
The ideal candidate will:
· Have prior experience in administration applicant
· Have a pastoral heart and be able to deal with confidential matters appropriately
· Be able to maintain relationships of trust with other staff and volunteers
· Be fluent in English and able to use Microsoft Word and Excel
Administration and Organizational Compliance (10 hrs/week avg.):
a. sort and respond to voicemail and email messages every 24-48 hrs (can be done from home)
b. open and sort paper mail correspondence twice per week and issue responses, or pass on as needed.
c. manage church office, equipment (computers, telephones, photocopier, etc.), filing, and
d. update website information on a weekly basis, prep e-mail announcements on a weekly basis
e. assist as needed with scheduling of guest preachers, and communion reflections
f. manage church bulletin boards
g. assist in preparation of monthly handouts for communion brunches by liaising with song leader and person leading the communion reflection, and printing
h. assist in preparation of binders for children for all church Sundays
i. attend Church Council meetings and occasional Board of Directors meetings, following up on action items as requested
j. process outgoing mail as needed
k. assist the bookkeeper by making regular bank deposits of weekly church offerings
l. meet weekly with supervisor
m. purchase office supplies, etc. as needed
n. manage internal (Marine View Chapel) and external bookings for the Church building and coordinate event hosts
o. liaise withcurrent tenant(s) in the church building.
p. as time allows, help with other administrative duties.
