Methodist International Church and Circuit, Hong Kong (MICHK)
Anticipated commencement date: 1 September 2027
We are seeking a prayerful, spiritually mature and mission-minded Methodist minister to provide spiritual, pastoral and strategic leadership. This is an opportunity to serve a congregation of many nationalities, languages, generations and Christian traditions in worship, discipleship, pastoral care, unity and service to Hong Kong.
MICHK is a welcoming, outward-facing church with significant potential for growth in congregational life, Christian formation, mission and community engagement. We invite candidates to discern prayerfully whether God may be calling them to this distinctive ministry setting.
Methodist International Church and Circuit, Hong Kong
Methodist International Church and Circuit, Hong Kong (MICHK) is a diverse international Methodist church in the heart of Wan Chai, serving people from many nations, cultures, and Christian traditions. MICHK is part of the Methodist Conference, Hong Kong (MCHK), its parent organisation and the body through which it participates in the wider Methodist connexional family.
Our worshipping community is around 800 people. We are one congregation gathering across seven weekend services: two English-speaking services, four Filipino services in Tagalog and Ilocano, and one Putonghua service. All services are held at Wesleyan House. Alongside weekend worship, MICHK’s small groups, Bible studies, pastoral care, retreats, and other ministry activities take place both in person across Hong Kong and online. MICHK also provides pastoral oversight and support to a congregation in Macau, established to serve the spiritual and pastoral needs of domestic workers.
MICHK has worshipped on its Wan Chai site for around 140 years. The present Wesleyan House, which opened in 2018, is a 22-storey building and an important centre for the church’s worship, ministry, hospitality, and engagement with the wider community. It includes the main Sanctuary, with seating for up to 450 people, Wesley Chapel in the basement, and the Sky Chapel.
Wesleyan House also contains MICHK’s offices, accommodation for several pastoral staff, and the headquarters of the Methodist Conference. It hosts a substantial programme of internal church activities and external events, including concerts, choirs, weddings, funerals, community groups, outreach initiatives, learning, and partnership activities.
MICHK is served by approximately 25 employees, the majority of whom work full-time, across pastoral and operational roles. The operations team supports the church’s ministry through finance, facilities, human resources, IT and events, working alongside pastoral colleagues, lay leaders, volunteers and governing bodies.
