Associate Pastor Full Time

We are searching for a pastor to grow the culture of spiritual vitality and discipleship at MCA Church. The successful woman or man will demonstrate a vibrant life with Jesus, a love for people, and a capacity for leadership in multiple ministry areas.

Overview of Primary Responsibilities
First and foremost we are searching for someone who has a developed sense of who God has made them to be in ministry and how that unique wiring relates to leading others in following Jesus.  Our desire is to find someone who loves sharing life with other people and has a gift to draw others into community and kingdom service.  The following is a description of the responsibilities we have in mind for the role; however, the final job description will be shaped together based on fit, interest, and capacity.

Discipleship Ministries

• Grow the culture of spiritual vitality and discipleship at MCA Church.
• Provide overall strategic leadership to the adult discipleship ministries at MCA Church, including the design and implementation of a unified discipleship pathway.
• Equip, support, resource, and manage discipleship teams.
• Strategize and implement various platforms to support the church to follow Jesus faithfully (such as conferences, seminars, retreats, leadership development, etc.)
• Provide oversight, support, and direction to the mission and outreach, prayer, and care teams as an extension of the discipleship journey.

Leadership & Other Duties

• Serve alongside the Lead Pastor in making key decisions about the vision, direction, and staffing of the church.
• Evaluate adult ministries annually for effectiveness and change.
• Participate in pastoral duties (officiating weddings and funerals, pastoral counselling, visitation, prayer ministry, benevolence, etc.) as an equal part of the larger pastoral team.
• Preach as part of the larger preaching team (frequency will depend on interest and gifting)
• Assist ministry teams in church-wide events (Fall Kick-Off, Conferences, Camps, etc.)
• Lead MCA Church in the specific vision God has uniquely given you for the local church.

Qualifications & Fit

• Experience in local or para church ministry and a sense of God’s calling to pastoral ministry.
• A people-oriented leader who easily shares their life in Christ with others.
• A self-starter able to manage multiple people and projects at the same time.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, build, and shepherd teams for effective ministry.
• Models spiritual and emotional health and integrity.
• Has completed a Bachelor or Masters Degree applicable to Church ministry.
• Accredited (or willing to pursue accreditation) with the Christian & Missionary Alliance.
• In support of the C&MA Statement of Faith.
