Purpose: To serve on the More Than a Roof finance team, ensure responsible financial practice, support for accounting practices across the organization, monthly and annual fiscal responsibility, and information technology and accounting software implementation support as needed while upholding the mission, vision and values of More Than a Roof Group.
Report to: Chief Financial Officer
Full Time: 40 hours per week
Full cycle accounting for multiple property management companies with supervision of staff accountants.
Process general accounting functions, including account payable and receivable sub-ledger reconciliations and adjustments using direct/indirect techniques, activity-based costing and job costing.
Assist with the external audit process and reconcile accounts to final financial statements.
Maintain chart of accounts, review reconciliations including intercompany accounts
Perform budget variance analysis at a property level.
Implement and comply with Company’s accounting policies and procedures.
Research, analyze and apply new policies and procedures.
Prepare and analyze cash flow reporting and develop proforma cash flow reports.
Other duties as assigned by CFO.
Reporting and Taxation
Prepare year-end financial statements and reporting including note disclosure.
Assess, prepare and develop operational budget and actual reporting for leadership including development of new reports.
Prepare budget and actual report for housing authorities.
Assess general GST issues for new entities.
Develop and present KPI’s including assessment of competitors financial statements.
Assess reporting needs of stakeholders.
Controls and processes
Understand and implement finance controls and processes; recommend improvements and new controls as necessary related to job description.
Improve and streamline controls and processes through use of technology. Introduce new tools as needed to drive efficiencies in existing processes.
Develop and implement a proper filing system (electronic and paper) within this accounting function.
Special Projects and Business Involvement
Assist in the preparation of proforma for new development projects.
Perform SWAT analysis for organization, develop strategic objectives, and assess risk.
Organize support for contractual obligations
Understand and assist in financing options for projects & conduct analysis.
Information Technology Support
Provide support for Arcori.
Assist with troubleshooting programs.

Undergraduate degree in Accounting or related field
Canadian CPA designation or in process
3+ years of relevant experience in accounting
Strong understanding of Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profits and Charitable Organizations.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with Accounting Programs
