SBF is a family orientated, growing, multi-generational church, located on Vancouver Island. We’re 15 minutes north of Victoria on the Saanich Peninsula. Our heartbeat is to do our best to express Jesus’ life, so that we see His love transforming lives in our church and in our local neighbourhoods. Over the past year, God has been blessing our church with growth in many areas, including amongst our Youth. As a result of this growth, we’re seeking a full-time Youth Pastor to join our team – someone who loves Jesus and who would love expressing Jesus’ life amongst our youth at the church. About the role: The Youth Pastor will create and further develop a healthy Youth Ministry at SBF, by building relationships with the SBF Youth, by shepherding, developing and leading the SBF Youth team, and by creating an effective SBF Youth ministry program. This role is an integral member of SBF’s staff team. Responsibilities: ● Create and further develop a healthy Youth Ministry culture through Grades 5-12 by discipling the SBF Youth. ● Ensure growth in the team’s character, commitment to our community, and growing competency in their area of serving. ● Recruit, empower, develop, mentor and retain volunteer teams to carry out the work of ministry according to the church’s Vision, Mission and Values. ● Organize & lead SBF Youth gatherings and events. ● Coordinate curriculum for our particular needs and context (or develops/recommends alternative plans. ● Develop and manage a weekly schedule for SBF Youth Teams each week ● Contribute to general pastoral duties within our team & community ● Serve as a contributing member on the SBF Church staff team. SBF Staff Requirements ● Understand, support and comply with SBF’s Vision, Mission, Values, Statement of Faith. ● Actively participate in staff meetings, retreats, organizational development days, all-team days, membership meetings and special events designated by Lead Pastor as required. ● Adhere to a philosophy of ministry that is in harmony with that of SBF. Requirements: ● A mature and growing faith in Jesus Christ. ● A clear sense of calling and passion for Youth Ministry. ● Theological degree, or equivalent relevant experience in church ministry. ● Committed lifelong learner. ● A team player who is able to recruit and maintain volunteers. ● Commitment to equip others in their gifting. ● High level of experience & proficiency in leading Youth Ministry. ● Effective communicator in individual and group contexts. ● Strong competencies in leadership, communication, collaboration & shepherding ● Proven experience & a high commitment to a volunteer-based Youth Ministry ● If married, demonstrates a strong and healthy marriage, with spousal commitment to their calling into ministry and spousal involvement in the life of SBF as a participating member.
