Lead Pastor Full Time

Description Summary

The Lead Pastor, in close collaboration with the Council and the existing pastoral team, will play a key role in guiding us to be Jesus-shaped people and to live out His Kingdom reality in community. She or he will champion our core values of transformation, self-giving love, authenticity, and diversity, and will nurture an inclusive and genuine community.  The role is well-suited for a person who is adept at fostering authentic community through facilitation and collaboration, creating an environment that encourages transformation and robust engagement. The Lead Pastor will be instrumental in creating an effective pastoral lead team and empowering our associate pastors, Christine and Jonathan.

This position is open to women and men from within and beyond the Mennonite Brethren Conference based on the candidate’s orientation towards a Jesus-centred (centred-set) theology and ecclesiology that fits within the Mennonite Brethren Confession, and on their abilities and suitability for the role.

Experience

• Pastoral and Leadership Experience: A substantial background in pastoral roles, showcasing an ability to cultivate authentic, Christ-centred communities and to foster growth and development in others, including nurturing emerging leaders.
• Community Engagement and Collaboration: A strong history of community engagement with proven experience in fostering inclusive and participatory connections both within the church community and in broader societal contexts.
• Educational Background: A theological education and background that aligns with the Mennonite Brethren theological orientation and the values and centred-set approach of The Gathering Church. The candidate should be comfortably supportive of the Mennonite Brethren Confession of Faith.
• Dialogue Skills and Conflict Resolution: Demonstrated abilities in conflict resolution and in fostering healthy relationships within a diverse community setting, complemented by excellent verbal and written communication skills for delivering engaging and transformative teachings.
• Adaptive Innovation and Network Building: A track record of adaptive innovation in ministry approaches, coupled with experience in building networks with other churches, organizations, and leaders for collaborative efforts and outreach initiatives.
