POSITION: Caseworker / Chaplain
FACILITY : Belkin House, Vancouver

RESPONSIBILITIES (the following is a general overview of the duties and responsibilities of the position. It is not the complete list.)
Develops and implements case management of assigned clients/residents; assists clients/residents in establishing goals, monitoring progress, and prepares discharge plan.
Interviews clients to prepare case histories and background information for which confidentiality is required.
Develops, with the client, a Personal Development Program (PDP) which will improve the client’s current situation and which the client can reasonably achieve and commit to.
Maintains appropriate records and statistics, ensures that all required documentation is accurate and complete, and forwards all reports in a timely manner according to published guidelines.
Participates as a member of the Belkin House Chaplaincy Team giving leadership to Chapel Services, may lead devotions or be responsible for a Spiritual Formation Program, prays with Clients and Staff, shares the gospel message when opportunity presents, assists in connecting Residents with local Corps and Church.
Assists community members, clients or congregants towards achieving personal and spiritual well-being
Possess solid character, values and lifestyle, and willing and able to affirm and support the Mission and Values Statements of The Salvation Army.
Post secondary education in social services or related field is preferred. At least two years’ previous recent, relevant experience working with marginalized individuals in a social service counselling role.
Some related Chaplaincy and/or pastoral ministry experience and education.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with theories, principles and practices specifically in the human services field and issues including domestic violence/abuse, substance abuse, mental health, and homelessness issues is required. Ability to apply this knowledge in the identification and assessment of needs and in making appropriate recommendations.

Successful obtainment of Enhanced Reliability Status Security Clearance
Successful obtainment of clearance through The Salvation Army Child Abuse Registry
Successful obtainment of clearance through the Criminal Record Check under the Criminal Records Review Act
TERMS : Permanent, Full-Time
HOURS : 37.5 hours per week
DAYS & TIME : Monday to Friday (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM; 30 min unpaid lunch)
