Position: City Program Outreach Team Leader
Status: Hiring 1 full time permanent, 1 full time contract (Sept-June)
Starting Date: ASAP
Work Location: 1550 O’Connor
POSITION SUMMARY: To attend to the health, safety and spiritual welfare of children and youth in the O’Connor/Parma area and surrounding communities
Duties & Responsibilities:
Direct and assist in leadership programs, afternoon programs and literacy programs
Plan, lead and participate in weekend programs and retreats, community outreach events, bible lessons, mentorship discussions
Supervise and interact with children during program times, connections and group trips
Provide care to children’s physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social needs
Implement daily programs and events including organizing program trips, small group activities and bible lessons
Communicate and liaison with parents, teachers, principals and other community leaders in conjunction with the City Programs Co-ordinator
Attend community networking meetings, outreach to schools and communities
Tutor and provide school support to students within the assigned community
Strict adherence to confidentiality
Required Experience and Education:
Experience working with children and youth; Child & Youth Diploma or Degree, Seminary, Psychology or Social work background would be an asset
Strong knowledge of child development stages and behavioural management techniques
Ministry oriented, strong on evangelism
Experience working with individuals and groups of children of various ages and abilities
Ability to problem solve and demonstrate creativity in lesson planning
Physical stamina to sustain consistent physical activities with children
Strong administrative skills and attention to detail
Punctual, flexible, a team leader and a team player
Ability to influence, motivate and mentor both team members and children
A valid G-license
A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities of this position may be considered in lieu of stated education and experience requirements.
