The Vancouver Helpers, the Vancouver and southern BC chapter of YouthInspirED Foundation, is committed to expanding access to educational support throughout the Lower Mainland and southern BC by connecting students with passionate volunteer tutors and creating opportunities for young leaders to make a lasting impact in their communities.

Position Summary
The Executive Director of The Vancouver Helpers provides strategic and operational leadership for the chapter. They are responsible for overseeing chapter operations, supporting the executive team, building community partnerships, growing local programming, and ensuring the successful delivery of the Foundation’s mission within the Vancouver and southern BC region.

Working collaboratively with the National Leadership Team and the Vancouver executive team, the Executive Director will foster a positive and inclusive culture, guide organizational planning, and ensure the chapter operates effectively while delivering high-quality programs for students and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Provide overall leadership and direction for The Vancouver Helpers.
• Develop annual goals, priorities, and strategic initiatives aligned with the Foundation’s mission.
• Identify opportunities to expand programs, increase volunteer engagement, and strengthen community impact.
• Monitor chapter performance and support continuous improvement.

Executive Team Leadership

• Recruit, mentor, and support members of the chapter executive team.
• Facilitate regular executive meetings and promote collaboration across departments.
• Delegate responsibilities effectively while fostering accountability and professional growth.

Program Oversight

• Oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of tutoring programs and chapter initiatives.
• Ensure programs meet organizational standards and provide a positive experience for students, families, and volunteers.
• Work closely with program leaders to address challenges and identify opportunities for improvement.

Community Partnerships

• Build and maintain relationships with local schools, community organizations, libraries, youth groups, and other partners.
• Identify opportunities for collaboration that support chapter growth and student success.

Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement

• Support recruitment strategies to attract volunteer tutors and executive team members.
• Foster an environment where volunteers feel valued, supported, and empowered to contribute.

Operations & Administration

• Maintain communication with the National Leadership Team regarding chapter activities, progress, and challenges.
• Oversee annual planning, reporting, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Passion for youth leadership, education, and community service.
• Previous leadership experience in a volunteer, student, nonprofit, or community organization.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to motivate, mentor, and support volunteers.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a remote and local leadership team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing volunteers or leading teams.
• Experience in education, tutoring, youth programming, or nonprofit organizations.
• Familiarity with the Vancouver and southern BC community and local educational landscape.
• Experience developing partnerships or organizing community events.

Time Commitment

• Approximately 5–6 hours per week, with flexibility depending on chapter activities.
• Attendance at executive meetings, planning sessions, and chapter events is expected.
