Regular chapel worship is a confessional hallmark and public cornerstone of life at a Christian university. The Associate Chaplain of Worship will fulfill the music and liturgy (i.e., prayers, etc.) for weekly chapel worship that occurs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (11:00am – 11:30am) performing from the front as needed while leading a growing team of paid and volunteer student leaders. They will oversee this group, select songs, coordinate rehearsals, etc. and be the point-person for the musical component of key community gatherings (i.e., convocation, commencement, and special services). As we are in an era of hybrid content delivery, they will at times need to record in the on-campus studio and embrace technology and be adaptable in their work. The individual must be attuned to diverse worship styles and genres of music. They also need to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and do well with planning well in advance, troubleshooting issues in real-time, and remaining a non-anxious presence. Being a detailed team player who teaches student leaders while also taking charge is key. It will be crucial that they take initiative and are internally motivated, but also connects regularly with the Digital Production Specialist and University Chaplain and Director of Student Ministries (Student Ministries’ colleagues). They need to be nimble, direct, and committed to excellence while displaying emotional intelligence. The individual will at times collaborate with other areas of the University, such as Marketing and Communication and the President’s Office.
