Position Purpose: The director of Donor Development is responsible for prospecting and developing relationships that aid in acquiring new donors and soliciting funds from new and existing donors, corporations and foundations that will meet the supporter’s wishes and activate ministry growth plans.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior non-profit fundraising professional who aspires to make a difference by steering UCB Media Canada to continue to be known for inspiring content.
Reporting to the CEO as part of the executive team, the successful candidate will design and implement strategies to cultivate relationships with donors at a range of giving levels and will lead the creation of donor solicitation and stewardship plans. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, inquisitive, creative, strategic and detail-oriented with a passion for seeing the Kingdom of God extended across Canada. The successful candidate has previous experience in fundraising and donor development and is results-driven, possessing superior communications and relationship management skills.
In this role, the Director of Donor Development & Fundraising will be acquitting, building, managing and closing a portfolio of major gift prospects to support UCB Media Canada initiatives and programs. In time they will also recruit and build a high performing team.

This is a full time, salaried position with benefits. While not essential, location in Belleville Ontario is of benefit.

Initiate, develop, and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes donor stewardship, direct mail, monthly giving, planned giving and support for UCB Media Canada events
Develop and oversee the Development team’s annual operating plan, setting ambitious fundraising targets and the department budget in consultation with the CEO
Lead in creating and managing a multi-year plan for major donors with concrete and measurable goals, annual calendar of activities and metrics to monitor results.
Develop and implement relationship management strategies and timelines
Establish goals to move donors up the giving cycle and solicit multi-year pledges
Supervise a robust planned giving program
Develop grant proposals and donor reports as required for all major gifts
Effectively manage staff to reach goals and generate results
Analyze and report on fundraising results to CEO and the Executive
Working with the Communications and Fundraising Manager, develop fundraising materials as required to support development strategies
Assist with the development and implementation of UCB Media Canada’s Strategic Plan
Represent UCB Canada at presentations, workshops, meetings and other external events as needed
Develop relationships with current donor portfolios to deepen and broaden existing donor commitments
Steward and provide opportunities to engage donors so they grow increasingly committed to the ministry
Promote and encourage donors to participate in our legacy giving
Innovate, undertake, research, analyze date and make recommendations regarding new opportunities and ventures which can enhance the ministry and can lead to new revenue sources and increased giving
Build a collaborative environment between development and program staff to enable all funding needs to be met, and all reporting requirements to be fulfilled
Experience and Qualifications:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field (Communications, fundraising, marketing, Financial planning) and/or related, progressively senior experience
Minimum of three years of senior experience and success in major gift fundraising, prospecting, donor cultivation, grant applications and relationship management
Advanced knowledge of fund development, marketing and communications best practices
Passionate about raising funds for the primary purpose of spreading God’s word
Senior hands-on leader in an effective team
Strong strategic planning and critical thinking skills
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Ability to take initiative to ensure results; self-motivated
Well-organized and detail-orientated
Ability to train, motivate and work effectively with others
Ability to work some evenings and weekends, with some travelling within Canada as required
Ability to develop key strategic relationships via networking and business development
Advanced transaction management skills, with an ability to develop, advance, and close transactions, working from start to finish
CFRE Designation is preferred, but not necessary, depending on skills, education and experience
Bilingualism is an asset
