Do you enjoy building relationships? Do you desire to show the love of Jesus, intentionally connecting with our DTES community members by listening, praying and providing hope? Are you adaptable and collaborative? Are you client-centered and service-oriented? If so, then we may have an opportunity for you. We are looking for an Outreach Worker on our Hastings Chaplaincy and Outreach team. The Outreach Worker position involves ministering to the men and women living in the neighbourhood of the Hastings facility. The job includes providing support, care, and spiritual guidance to guests—including referrals; facilitating chapel services, devotions, and Bible studies when required; and liaising with other service agencies—often advocating on behalf of our guests. If you have a strong Christian faith, 2-3 years of related work experience, and a class 5 driver’s license, this may be a great fit!
You will frequently deal with clients in crisis situations, brought about by diverse problems. There will be other staff nearby to assist as required.
This is an auxiliary (one year), full-time position. The position has a weekly schedule of: Sunday, 10am-6pm; Monday and Tuesday, 2pm–10pm; Friday, 11am–7:30pm, and Saturday, 10am-6pm. For a copy of the full job description, please visit our website.
