UGM’s Women and Families Centre is seeking to add to the auxiliary on-call list several women who are able to work in a variety of roles, including within our Sanctuary Stabilization Program and our teen / youth programs. These Ministry Support Workers must be mature, dependable, and able to provide Christ-centred spiritual care to guests and residents. In the Sanctuary, this role calls for the care of single women, new mothers, and newborns, who are living in our facility by forming loving and nurturing relationships with them as part of their journey toward recovery. Shifts in the Sanctuary will involve overnights; availability for these shifts is critical. In the teen / youth programs, this role assists with the planning, developing, implementation, and leading of the programming, including fieldtrips, seasonal activities, and special events. You will frequently deal with clients in crisis situations, brought about by diverse problems. There will be Outreach Workers and other Programs staff nearby to assist as required.

These are ministry positions and a personal knowledge and experience of the saving work of Jesus Christ is a prerequisite. Strong interpersonal skills and basic computer skills are required, along with the ability to work within a team dynamic. Related work or volunteer experience is an asset. In order to be successful in this position, you must be able to set healthy boundaries with demanding individuals and deal with people in crisis in an appropriate manner. A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence is an asset.
Due to the fragile nature of the clients we serve, and the sensitivities associated with previous violence and abuse, only female applicants will be considered for this position.
These positions will have unsupervised access to vulnerable adults or children. Therefore, successful candidates must provide a current criminal record check that includes a vulnerable sector search as a condition of employment.
These positions require incumbents to drive a UGM vehicle. Therefore, successful candidates must submit a current driver’s abstract.
