JOB DESCRIPTION ROLE: Associate Men’s Campus Minister (due to the large number male students at BCIT) – To work in a team environment to help develop a thriving Christian community, providing pastoral care to students, encouraging growth and maturity in discipleship to Jesus, participating in outreach and service to the campus, contributing to community building events, and developing/supporting new initiatives as needed.
REPORTS TO: Director (Calvin Weber)
SALARY & HOURS: This is a full time position that is funded through personal support raising. UCM will provide support raising training and has a track record of long-term success for its employees’ funding. Some start up funds are available. An approved budget will be determined annually. HOURS: 37.5 per week minimum plus extra ministry travel.
QUALIFICATIONS: Theological training from a recognized seminary or bible college; Pastoral ministry experience; Ideal candidate would have university experience and a bachelor’s degree.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Personal Development (5%) – Cultivate your relationship with God; deepen your own well-being.
Men’s Discipleship Ministry (30%) – Lead a small group of students by providing biblical teaching, mentoring, pastoral care, prayer, plus developing potential student leaders and involving them in co-leadership; follow up male students interested in the ministry and the Christian faith, mentoring and discipling them in their spiritual growth.
Evangelism/Outreach and Follow up ministry (20%) – Contribute to ideas to reach students with the gospel on campus and participate in various ways of doing so, which includes ministry display tables, spirituality questionnaires, and building friendship relationships with those interested.
Leadership, Administration and Participation in campus ministry (45%) – assist the director/team in facilitating weekly, monthly and special meetings; be able to preach or coordinate an event several times a semester; participate in weekly staff meetings; fundraise salary and personal ministry expenses; communicate and share the vision of the ministry regularly; handle administrative details and tasks as required or assigned.
