General Summary: To provide support and administrative assistance to the lead pastor of Vancouver Eastside Vineyard (VEV). This includes general administrative duties; planning and providing logistical support for services, meetings and events; and coordinating volunteers.
VEV is a special place. We are a small church with a regular membership of about 100 people. We are a diverse group; many who have felt like they don’t belong in other churches have found their fit here. About half of our congregation are children aged 0-14. We have a very high rate of volunteering and many people serve in more than one capacity. This means that our scheduling, service planning and organization can sometimes be a bit of a juggling act. Getting to know the people involved is key. Our lead pastor, Gordie Lagore, is an incredible guy – gentle, thoughtful, passionate and wise. It’s a gift to work with him (he didn’t’ write this J). He is deeply committed to this neighbourhood. He, along with several others, have lived and ministered in the community for over 20 years. He loves spiritual direction, pastoral care and writing. A gifted administrator will help make space and time for him to do these things.
Skill Set Needed: People person with excellent administrative skills and high attention to detail. Competent in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Docs/Dropbox (website management and audiovisual a bonus). Experience in a like role preferred.
12 hours per week (4 hours on Sunday morning and 8 hours divided over 2 weekdays) starting mid-August. Salary starts at $20/hour depending on experience.
