About the Senior Pastor:
The Senior Pastor is the overall visionary and leader of Love of Christ Church. They provide leadership, training, and vision to connect people to Christ, Love of Christ Church, and to others so that they take all the ‘next steps” and become fully devoted disciples of Jesus.
The Senior Pastor Responsibilities Include:
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
As the primary communicator, the Senior Pastor will deliver life-giving teaching of God’s Word at least 35+ weekends a year.
Identify and develop people who can assist in preaching when needed.
Proclaim Jesus and offer invitations for salvation through every message.
Teach messages that will help people become more like Jesus.
Prepare a teaching calendar to ensure a balance of teaching.
Identify, disciple, and develop leaders.
Promote small groups and lead a small group two semesters a year.
Foster a volunteer environment of serving with joy.
Support women using their gifts in ministry.
Promote and participate in community outreach.
Invest time and research into how Love of Christ Church can use the web, social media, and online services to make mature disciples who take the next steps: salvation, water baptism, membership, growth track, Bible reading, prayer, serving, giving, small groups, and witnessing.
Promote reaching the next generation of children and students.
Prepare for staff and key volunteer meetings.
Organize, hire, and dismiss staff as needed.
Appoint Overseers and Trustees pursuant to the By-laws of Love of Christ Church.
Annually develop the church budget per the By-laws and review with Trustees.
Meet at least once a quarter or as needed with Trustees to discuss facilities.
Communicate the mission, vision, values, and strategy of Love of Christ Church.
Cast vision for and support financially Love of Christ Church India.
Provide vision and leadership training so that the staff can effectively lead their teams.
Cast vision and support financially serving to and benevolence for our local community.
Provide vision and oversight of all worship experiences.
Cast vision for and continue to expand other new multi-site campuses.
Called by God to the Ministry (Ephesians 4:11).
Biblically qualify as an elder (Titus 1:6-9).
Agree with the “Statement of Faith” of Love Christ Church.
Love God, His church, and people.
Love and live out the mission, vision, and purpose of Love of Christ Church.
An attitude of a servant and modeling humility.
Maintain a discipline of personal Bible reading and prayer.
Tithe/give at least 10% of your gross income to Love of Christ Church.
Invest in and invite the lost to know Jesus and come to Church.
Be transparent and honest with your own struggles.
What You Bring:
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree from seminary preferred or equivalent.
Experience leading in a senior pastor or other executive position (5+ years preferred).
Experience leading in a large church.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the Word of God and how to practically apply it.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Self-starter with a high work ethic who makes things happen on a regular basis.
Ability to lead and inspire a large group, recognizing Love of Christ Church is a very diverse group: racially, generationally, economically, nationality, and politically.
Proven gift of teaching.

What it’s Like to Live in Bear, Delaware:
Bear, Delaware is located close to many international airports. It is 45 minutes from PHL, 2.5 hours from NYC, and 90 minutes from BWI. The University of Delaware is 10 minutes away and has 24,000 students. There are 1.8 million people located within a 30-minute drive. People attend and become members of our church from 4 states: Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland which are all within 30 minutes of our church. Delaware has a very diverse population and has many from other nations. Philadelphia Pa is only 45 minutes away. They have professional football (Eagles), basketball (Sixers), Soccer (Union), hockey (Flyers), and baseball (Phillies). Wilmington DE 10 minutes away is home to a minor league baseball team. Delaware has rolling hills, four seasons with fall leaves and mild winters with very little snow, trout fishing, and Atlantic coastal beaches only 90 minutes away.
