Pastor of Mandarin Ministries

West Vancouver Baptist church is seeking a Pastor of Mandarin Ministries with strong youth experience in order to develop its ministry to Mandarin speaking families on Vancouver’s North Shore. In this full-time position, the successful candidate will develop Mandarin volunteers and give ministry leadership whilst ensuring that the Mandarin ministries are an integral part of the more general church body. The Pastor of Mandarin Ministries will also have particular interest in developing youth ministry

1 Abilities

·       Able to lead and participate in teams

·       Fluent in Mandarin and English

·       Able to relate to Mandarin culture

·       Ability to use technology to communicate clearly

·       Able to accurately translate a sermon and bridge to an Asian context

·       Ability to give a sermon in Mandarin or English

·       Ability to relate to young people

2 Responsibilities and duties

·       Oversee program content and select suitable materials, and communicate those appropriately

·       The training and development of volunteers

·       Provide pastoral care

·       The leading of bible studies

·       As the ministry develops, to provide oversight and care to youth ministry

3 Training

·       Ideally an ordained pastor or equivalent

4 Character

·       Mature Christian character

·       Collaborative

·       A heart for outreach

5 Other

·       Will report to the lead pastor

·       Will attend weekly staff meetings

·       Will be a contracted position: pay according to the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada salary grid, depending on level of education and experience
